When God put us to test.
"The LORD examines (tests) the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, He hates with a passion" (Psalm 11:5).
As you see from this Psalm God leaves the wicked alone (so do not wonder when prosper ungodly) but tests the righteous. Also, when God leaves a person alone, this means that person is left without any protection and he can not know what will happen with him in this unsave world. And this is answer on many peoples question - why do trials come into my life after accepting Jesus? There also devil could be preaty much at work just because he is doing all he can to keep people away from God (from good) but for now that is not the case. Now, the righteous person can be tested by God to see what is in that person's heart, but in all cases the outcome is good.
God tests His own people for many reasons and all of them are for our own good.
God allow sometimes to go through fire may we can see our own hearts (Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 1:21; Mark 7:21-22). God put us to test in order may at the end all negative things in us (which can harm us and others) are "burned up" and we come out refined us silver (Psalm 66:10).
Very often it is hard for human being to reach his or her full potential in life with an old negative attitudes of mind/heart. When we are hurt and due to life's circumstances have developed in ourselves negative emotions, than we develop certain attitudes towards others and without the healing of our souls there is not a chance to live free and happy life (at all aspects) without anyhow hurting ourselves and others.
Some of those emotions are - hostility, indifference, rudeness, anger, envy, greed, manipulation, dissatisfaction, remorse, guilt, contempt, jealousy, revenge etc, etc.
And so we are enslaved to our own negativity and the longer we live with that, the more we develop these negative attitudes and dangerously begin accept them in our character as something normal saying – that is who I am, that is my character. But that is absolutely not true. All those negative feelings and attitudes people develop by nurturing them in their hearts.
And as sadly as it is – no psychological programs, self-help books and psychiatrists; no loving family, husband, wife, or friends can do anything to help and heel us from negative thoughts, feelings and attitudes.
We live with hostility in our hearts towards others and toward God. So, from the moment we accept Jesus in our hearts God start His cleansing work in us, no matter what age we are,;He has plan for each and every His child to prosper him or her, and give great future.
God wants to free us from any negative power over our life that is why after our decision to turn to Him, God begin to cleanse our minds, heal our souls and change our hearts in order may we fit into His purpose and we can accomplish His plan for our life. There is no human being born under the sun to live only for himself. We all have purpose in this life and God wants us to know it and fulfil it.
And the more He has in mind for us, the greater test He brings in our way, the harder He works in us. It is our duty to see it, accept it and go through it being strengthened with His Word may at the end we come out stronger, wiser and better (Zechariah 13:9; Job 23:10; Psalm 66:10).
For example, if you have anger problem and you are without God than you will suffer all your life from its eruptions; you will blame others for it and cause them to suffer; and you will get yourself into a mess more as you want. Bet when God comes into your life and you start to know Him, than He by knowing you even better as you yourself do, will cause in your life circumstances (tests) which will help you to see your real heart's condition. He will help you to understand your heart's actions/ motives and slowly will free you from this your own life and other people live's damaging emotion - absolutely needless anger.
No good thing God withholds from His children but we must endure in this period of testing in order to be ready to receive His blessings. Read book of Daniel and see how God rescued those man in a fire, so God also now walks with you in your period of trial.
Just know that Jesus is all what you need to persevere. His Word is the light and the strength and the wisdom... And when you by perseverance will resist the present test (and all the rest) than you will come out as refined gold and there will be no smell of fire on you.... (Daniel 3:23-27).
Although we often understand not what is going on right now ,but we know that God works all things for our good (Romans 8:28). Take His Word, do what you can, ask for wisdom and do not doubt in Him, and you will experience victory over all aspects of your life. It can take time (for some shorter, for some longer) but just know and trust He will never leave you nor forsake you (Isaiah 43:2).
So, God allows us to go through hard times just to cleanse us from bad past things, and to free from any negative power over our life.
Than God tests our faith. Some trials and sufferings "have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed" (1 Peter 1:7).
Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years, but in reality it was less than one month travel. Why were they so long in that desert? Because of their unbelief and callous hearts (Hebrews 3:17). So also we can prolong our time of test or shorten it by obeying not or obeying God (which sometimes is not easy because of our stubbornness).
God tests our dependence on Him. He tests us in order to see if our faith is real and to see if we really love Him; what is in our hearts (Deuteronomy 13:1-3; 2 Chronicles 32:31). Abraham, nation Israelites, Job, Jacob and so many other people were tested in order to see what is in their hearts, and when they are ready to receive God's promised blessings (Genesis 22:1; Hebrew 11:17; Deuteronomy 8:2; Job 23:10).
James is teaching to "consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything" (James 1:2; Romans 5:1-5; 1 Thessalonians 3:3).
God tests us also in order to prepare for His kingdom may those who are over comers receive the crown of life (2 Thessalonians 1:4-7; 2 Timothy 2:12; Revelation 3:21).
"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him" (James 1:12).
And finally suffering will always come when person steps out of the will of God. In such cases the joy of life can be lost and person can be weakened; can feel depressed and tired; can feel loneliness and can experience deep sorrow without reason.
If God commands you to do something than do it. And do it directly no matter what you feel, think or want. God will not let you go unless you will fulfil His desire because you are His possession (Ephesians 1:11-14). And He will bless your perseverance and your trust in Him (Psalm 119:165; Psalm 37:11).
But if person resist God for too long than can happen that God just put that person "on shelf" and until it is not understood there are not comfort and peace in life; there are always feeling that something is missing and something is wrong. But turn to Him, and He will turn to you (Zechariah 1:3).
Now what ever trials, disappointments, pains and sufferings you are going through right now, know that God will deliver you out of them all (Proverbs 24:16; Psalm 34:19). God takes no pleasure (Lamentations 3:31-33) in your suffering, but all He does He does in order to make you whole, may at the end you lacking anything, having all that you need, will abound in every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8). Job 5:17; Hebrews 12:5.
I pray in the precious name of our Lord Jesus may He show you the right way, may He lead you, guide you and counsel you. May He bless you, keep you, watch over you, may His face shine on you, and may you receive all what you need in order that His Name be glorified. Amen!
My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline, and do not resent His rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son He delights in (Proverbs 3:11-12).
For that reason know that "no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it"
(1 Corinthians 10:13).
