Fifth Commandment.

Honor your father and your mother.

First of all you must know and understand that it is by grace you have been saved. It is not because of your good works etc.. But if you count yourself religious and still rely on the law to be forgiven and saved, than yes, you must read them and understand and keep. Every one of them.

Secondly I would like to add that for the word “law” in Hebrew in regard to these 10 commandments correct translation should be “principles.” God gave not only to the Jews but to whole world principles by which if lived, than there can be love, joy, peace and other blessings in person’s life.

Thirdly, any command or principle is with much more greater emphasis from that how we often see and comprehend them. For example it is said: “you shall not murder.” We directly imagine murdering human being. But actually is said also: “if you are angry at your brother or sister…” you are broken this one commandment already. You are murderer in your heart.

Furthermore, it is extremely important to understand that the main reason why the Law was given is, to show people that they are sinful and they are in great need of Redeemer. Galatians 3:19.

Since we have Redeemer already (to everyone who accepts Him and begin to follow His principles), each and every Law, commandment and decree, what ever there may be, are fulfilled by Jesus Christ. He did it for you on the Roman cross. Now, as He through the Holy Spirit begins to work in you, you will be made able to love GOD and love others as yourself.

You will be able to walk with God.

For those who love God and are loved by God, there are no really Law to follow for the entire Law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: "Love your neighbour as yourself" (Galatians 5:14).

The law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:17.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (Galatians 3:13).

If and still there is any doubt in your heart, see all Commandments (just to understand that not even one person has been able to keep them and will be not, for all people are sinful from birth and are in need of Saviour).

In every way seek the Truth,  for Christ is the culmination of the Law so that there may be Righteousness for everyone who believes. Romans 10:4.

All who do love are from God and God's Principles for godly living automatically are in his/her heart, for God Himself put them in. All people are saved exclusively by faith alone, by grace alone in/ through Christ alone.

The life and godly walking according the God's advices will be what brings peace, joy and happiness. Not the concentration on the so called 10 commandments.

People who are free from the Law are enabled to live, and serve God from the bottoms of their hearts; they are able to love and do more than those who follow and try to live according to the Law.

Anyway, here is the good, holy and perfect Law:

Fifthe Commandment.

"Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you. (Exodus 2:12; Deuteronomy 5:16).

First four commandments concern honour to God, these last six honour to people.

Honouring people is the way we honour God.
all six commandments are telling us how to develop and maintain proper relationships with other people. They are the standards of human behaviour which starts within the family.

If we honour our parents it will be blessing to the rest of our life for this commandment comes with the promise - "honour you father and mother so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." (Ephesians 6:3; Colossians 3:20). It is obvious that in regardless of their age, those children who disobey their parents will struggle in their later lives. By choosing disobey and dishonour own parents, children are loosing the blessings of God on their lives and are subjected to many pains and sufferings. The first and greatest duty of children is, to obey their parents which includes inward reverence and outward acts.

Parents must learn to deal with their children in accordance with the Word of God - prudently and wisely. They must teach children to be obedient them by showing their obedience to God and His Word.

Many things could be added to this but mainly we must understand that children who honour their parents are the BENEFICIARIES. God place this commandment as the first in regard to all the rest. By obeying our parents we obey God and receive His blessings. By disobeying our parents we disobey God and receive curses.

Many may say right now - "I do not believe in God and His rules." Wrong! There absolutely matters not what you believe. God's eternal rules applies to all. If you believe that murder and stealing is bad, and murder not and steal not, than you are obeying God's Commandments and receive not appointment punishment in regard to killing and stealing. The same way if we by any reason choose to disobey our parents we will bear adequate consequences of it.

Children, obey your parents and each and every authority which God has placed over your life, may it go well with you! It is only for your own good! To honour and obey God; to obey His commandments are the way to the blessed life.

It is a dreadful thing to live our life as we want and feel. We never know what can happen to us in the next moment or day. The wisest thing of all what we do is to obey God's teachings fully.

Because "cursed is anyone who dishonours their father or mother." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!" (Deuteronomy 27:16).

"If someone curses their father or mother, their lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness." (Proverbs 20:20; Matthew 15:4).

"Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding." (Proverbs 4:5-7).

"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities (parents, teachers, work givers, rulers and all the rest), for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." (Romans 13:1).

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise - so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." (Ephesians 6:1-3).

"So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left.

Walk in obedience to all that the LORD your God has commanded you,

so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess."

(Deuteronomy 5:32-33).
