How Do We Become Saved?
This one particular question regardless of its simplicity is the very stumbling block for many Christians. It is the accuser, the Satan, who constantly whispers in Christian's ears that it is not possible to be saved just by grace alone and something must to be added to this absolutely freely given gift from God.
Sounds simple, but the most of people, whom Jesus love, are struggling and to scourge themselves constantly so that they do not see the light which Gospel offers and do not experience the freedom which comes by receiving total forgiveness, and do not bear fruit as they would.
So, forsake the devil's thoughts which he do plant into your minds and accept through faith the very Words of the living God the Father.
By reading the Scriptures understand in your heart that we are saved not by our efforts, good works, by going to church, by being born into the Christian family, by being baptised as infants, by 'confessing' sins to priests, or by making a public profession of faith, or by anything else on this world, as only by His grace alone. Any work (including water baptism) what we do after that (after we have received Salvation and have been born again), is the works what God has prepared for each of us in order to help us to grow in Him and live a blessed and God honouring life.
- And one more important thing - we are not sinners because we do, act or think bad thoughts. NO! We are sinners because we have been born that way. Psalm 51:5.
In the same way as you have been born with certain characteristics of your parents which you are not able to change, the same is also with our sinful nature which we have inherited from our first parents - Adam and Eve. They allowed sin to enter into the world which as contagious disease spread to all humanity (Genesis 3). After we are saved we do renew our minds daily and live by the Word of God which we keep in front of our eyes, and in our hearts daily.
In Romans 5:12 we read that "therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned."
Yes, in the most of cases it is very hard for our human's EGO (because of sin) to accept that in spite of our perfect living and good works for 24/7, without Jesus we are dead in our transgressions and sins. Without Jesus we are condemned as hopeless sinners in the eyes of God.
All people alike are all under the power of sin. As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one" (Romans 3:9:10).
And "the penalty for sin is death - separation from God for ever and ever" (Rom.6:23).
But God in Genesis 3 after the human's fall immediately promised that He will make all things good. (See, God was first who preached the Gospel.)
And He did.
"For God so loved the world that sent His One and only Son, may everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16.
So, in regard to Salvation read the Words of God till they take roots deep in your soul and your heart begin to rejoice.
You are saved by grace alone!!! God saved you by His grace alone when you believed, and immediately you become a child of God. And not you yourself nor anyone else can take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Person is justified, declared "not guilty" by faith in Jesus and His work on the cross, apart from the works of the law Rom.3:28.
"God has saved us and called us to a holy life - not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel" (2 Timothy 1:9-10).
And "everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13).
Already in Joel 2:32 we read that "everyone who calls on the Name of the LORD will be saved."
In Acts 2:38 we can read how Peter replied to anxious people: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
So, I hope and pray that you see just here from Scriptures that we can't earn forgiveness of our sins by no any other means as only by accepting God's freely given gift. For "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
Only and only God is who justifies. Romans 8:33; Isaiah 50:8.
Only God alone can forgive sin. Luke 5:21; Isaiah 43:25; Psalm 103:12.
No human being is allowed or able to forgive anyone's sin. We forgive to those who do wrong to us, but the sin which each human being has committed towards God, is forgiven only by God in accordance with His own provided way.
Already all the prophets of Old Testament testified about (Jesus) that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His Name" (Acts 10:43).
There is no any other work added.
You must believe in Jesus and make Him your personal Saviour through faith. It is exclusively only between you and Him.
"God Himself has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son." (1.John 5:11).
700 years before Jesus even was born Isaiah wrote about Him:
He took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered Him punished by God,
stricken by Him, and afflicted.
But He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him,
and by His wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on Him
the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53: 4-6).
"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:16).
Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. Believe that He suffered and died on cross for you (Acts 16:31; Mark 16:16).
God did all work necessary un you have nothing to add to it as only receive Jesus as your personal Saviour through faith. It is a free gift from God to all people to be received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 15:11; Romans 3:24).
Believe in Jesus your Lord only, believe in God un you will have eternal life (John 3:15).
Jesus is the only way to receive forgiveness and Salvation (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the only way to your heavenly Father. Jesus is the only way to heaven (John 14:6).
Jesus answered, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the God our except through Me."
I pray may God open the eyes of your heart and bring you to the place where He wants you to be. Amen.
